Intake Checklist: Attestation & Translation

What to prepare before opening an attestation or translation case. The exact chain required depends on the issuing country and document type — Sonsoto determines this at intake.

---

Documents to Prepare

  • [ ] Original document(s) to be attested (or high-quality scan if originals will be sent separately)
  • [ ] Country of issue for each document
  • [ ] Intended use in the UAE (e.g., visa application, banking, DLD property transfer, professional licensing) — determines which attestation steps are required

Common Document Types

  • [ ] Educational certificates (degree, diploma, transcript)
  • [ ] Personal status documents (birth certificate, marriage certificate, divorce certificate)
  • [ ] Criminal / police clearance certificate
  • [ ] Company documents (CoI, MoA, Good Standing Letter)
  • [ ] Power of Attorney
  • [ ] Court orders or judgments

If Apostille is Available

  • [ ] Is the issuing country a Hague Convention member? (Sonsoto will verify — but if you know, note it)
  • [ ] Has an apostille already been obtained? If yes, provide the apostilled document

Translation Requirements

  • [ ] Is the document in Arabic already? (If yes, translation to English may be needed for some uses, or the document may be ready for UAE use)
  • [ ] Is a certified Arabic translation required? (Required for virtually all non-Arabic documents submitted to UAE authorities)
  • [ ] Target language direction: Arabic→English, English→Arabic, or another language

For Rush or Time-Critical Cases

  • [ ] Note your hard deadline (e.g., visa appointment date, bank submission date)
  • [ ] Sonsoto will advise on feasibility and, where possible, expedite steps

*Attestation chains can take 2–6 weeks depending on the issuing country. Open this case as early as possible — do not wait until the document is urgently needed by another workflow.*
